Ray and I have been married for 39 years, and have spent that time working, raising a large family of 6 kids, and enjoying a lot of fun opportunities that have happened our way. Kate works as the Health Policy Advisor on the staff of Governor Culver, her husband John is an attorney, and they have 2 daughters, Ava (5) and Amelia (1); Marc has recently left Iowa for a Peace Corps assignment in the African country of Gambia; Betsy lives in Atlanta with her boyfriend, and works as an inventory analyst for Home Depot; Scott lives and works in Oregon with his family, Asia (6), Jada (3) and Tony (2); Annie lives and works in Jacksonville, FL; and Jay is at the Iowa Commission for the Blind in their Living Skills Program and will finish his final few credits to graduate from Simpson when he has completed the Commission's program. So we are finally, mostly, empty nesters.
Through the years, I have worked several different administrative assistant/offie manager positions. I am currently in the Activity Department at The Village Retirement Community and love working with the elderly. Ray has spent his career working in shopping center management, has retired unsuccessfully twice, and is now managing one of the divisions in the Department of Administrative Services for the State of Iowa.
Together, Ray and I have enjoyed some travel, look forward to more, and have had many good times with friends and family. We have been very active in Democratic party politics through the years, and have had the opportunity to host many political events, along with state and national candidates, in our home.
I love spending time with my precious grandchildren, time in my garden, reading, and especially all aspects of quilting and needlework.
