40 ALREADY....after graduation I went to DMACC and recived my degree in Auto Machanics. Then on to work at Hylander Manufacturing making campers for 4 1/2 years. January 1974 I hired on at John Deere Des Moines Works in Ankeny. In 1988 I took over operations of the family farm. Judy and I manage to juggle our work scedules during harvest time to get the crops in. With my spare time... I have rebuilt and restored my 1969 Chevelle.
We have 5 grandchildren; Corey and Jennifer with one child, Kylie Marie born April 2008. Mellisa and Monte have two children, Emily Marie born January 1998 and Kaitlyn Elizabeth born July 2000. Stacie and Brian have two children, Amber Raquel born April 1998 and Nathan Tyler born July 2001. They keep us busy and we enjoy every minute of it.
As for retirement...when the farm starts paying the bills!!!
